Hi there,

Chris’s Corner

As I write this on Remembrance Day, I am deeply grateful for the service and sacrifices made by so many members of the military and by their families so that we may enjoy the freedoms we have today. Close to home, I’m remembering my Dad, who served during the Korean War and the fathers of many of my friends who also served. During the pandemic, the military has stepped up and provided much-needed support in long-term care homes putting their own health on the line for others. Thank you. Today’s ceremony at the Cenotaph was very different but still just as poignant and brought back memories of the many years that I participated in the ceremony as a proud member of the HMCS Carleton Naval Reserve Band.

We’ve all been getting a taste, during COVID, of what it means to sacrifice for others. Some have lost family members either directly as a result of COVID or indirectly due to its impact on mental health. Some have lost jobs or had a significant loss of income. Families are balancing the needs of all members, parents working, children in school or attending on-line, spending much more time together than ever before. We hare having to stretch, to learn all sorts of new ways of working and being with others as we weather the waves of the pandemic itself and of our responses and emotions. The stress is real. In my article this month my goal is to bring continued awareness to the effects of ongoing stress on our physical and emotional states. Be mindful, be patient, be kind to yourselves and to others. We’re all in this together and supporting ourselves and others will get us through.

A Beginner's Mind for the Season

A Beginner's Mind for the Season
2020 has been a year filled with uncertainty and constantly having to adjust how we live our daily lives…so many questions - how long is lockdown going to last, will my work continue, how do I work from home with the kids home from school, can I shift the work I do to an on-line platform, how can our family …

Quote of the month

Trust the energy that courses through you. Trust. Then take surrender even deeper. Be the energy. Don’t push anything away. Follow each sensation back to it source. In vastness and pure presence.
